M PHIL DEGREE TO PRE 2006 NDC ALUMNI -UPDATE

1. First Batch. The provisional M Phil Degrees in respect of first batch has been received in the college. You are requested to get it collected from the NDC.

2. Second Batch.

(a) The last day for submission of thesis has been extended till 14 Nov 11. All alumni are requested to submit their thesis to University Division, NDC by 14 Nov 11 positively. No extension of date is feasible.
(b) They are also requested to contact their respective guide in case of any clarification in respect of writing of thesis.

M Phil Degree for regular course members

University of Madras has accorded recognition to the National Defence College for award of M. Phil Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies vide University of Madras letter AII/ M PHIL(FT) Defence Studies/2006/1105 dated 23 Feb 2006. The M.Phil programme commenced with the 46th NDC course in the year 2006.

Course Content

The M. Phil Course (Full time- 47 weeks) consists of two parts as follows:-

(a) Part I. Written examination in the following subjects

(i) Paper -I National Security

(ii) Paper -II Research Methodology.

(iii) Paper -III On area of specialization (Dissertation related)

(b) Part II. Dissertation.

Eligibility Conditions for Full Time Course

The eligibility conditions for the Course as laid down by the University of Madras are as follows:-

(a) The individual must possess a Post Graduate Degree / psc/ Higher Command Course or equivalent.

(b) Officers must be on the strength of the NDC during the course.

Research Status to NDC

The approval for recognition of NDC as Centre for conducting research leading to PhD Degree has been received from University of Madras vide letter No. RPO/NDC/RECGN/2009/161 dated 22Jan 2009. Further formalities before inviting applications from scholars are being processed with the University of Madras presently.

M Phil Degree 49th Course

All the course member of 49th NDC Course who could not attend convocation ceremony on 08 July 2011 are requested to collect M Phil Degree personally or through the authorised representative from OIC University Division, NDC on any working day.
